The downs of being a first time home buyer

The downs of being a first time home buyer

Colorado is a hot market right now, for buyers it means getting in your offer as quick as you can. Especially if you’re a first time home buyer.
I’ll give you an example. Just this past week we found the most perfect house. It had everything we were looking for. Big backyard for our dog, two car garage for my gearhead husband, and a beautiful kitchen for me to cook in.
So we jumped on it. Offered over the asking price, had our lender letter ready to go, and we were the first offer in. We had such a good feeling about this one and were hoping that our home search would finally be coming to an end.
We waited what seemed like a century to hear back. Well technically it was only a day and a half. But waiting to hear back on something like that is just torture.
Then we finally got the answer this morning. Unfortunately it was a no. The sellers went with another offer. It was a cash offer that they accepted. Even though we were unwritten approved. It broke my heart.
I think it’s harder to hear you didn’t get it when you are a first time home buyer. Because you’re so ready for this next step. Take us for example, were done with apartment living. We ready to start our newly married lives with a house.
But the biggest thing any first time home buyer needs to remember is that there is always another house. New houses will pop up all the time. I’d to tell myself this at least 100 times this morning.
So when your offer isn’t picked. Just cry it out. I’ll admit I cried a little this morning. It is ok to be upset. But once you’re done. Get right back into it. Start looking again, because who knows maybe the even more perfect house is already on the market just waiting for you.
