Housing sales in December.
Housing sales in December.
December was a busy month in Colorado’s housing market. There
were about 4,436 homes closed on, which is a 2% raise over last year. 3,174 of
those homes closed on were single family detached homes. The remaining 1,262 were
condos or townhomes.
According
to Kirby Slunaker, president and CEO of REcolorado. “December typically brings
a month-over-month increase in residential real estate sales, but this December
surprised us with a much higher increase than we’ve seen in previous years.
Home prices have moderated since the second quarter, allowing buyers to jump
into a market that is less competitive during the holiday season.”
So what
about the active listings in December in Colorado? Well I’m proud to report
that by the end of December, there were 5,501 active listings, as well as 4,436
closings. This is a 3% increase over last year.
According to REcolorado, Denver
home inventory averages 30 days on the market, December averaging 33. Increasing
by only 3 days.
