It's closing time!
We’re closed and done!
We have finally closed on our first house, and let me tell you I’m so happy it’s done! As I may have mentioned in previous blogs, this process started over a year ago. We had tried purchasing a home a year ago and had no luck with getting one. However we also weren’t working with Jeffrey Harmes and the Harmes team either! They are what made the biggest difference for us this year vs. last year.
Our closing went pretty smoothly, it probably was the smoothest thing through this entire home buying process.
The night before the closing, my dad flew in for moral support and to celebrate with us. Thursday morning at 9am, we were at Chicago Title, getting ready to close on this house. We had a nice full room that included, my husband and I, the Seller and his Realtor, our teams realtors Scotty and Lynn. Then of course my dad was there.
Most everyone just talked and joked around while my husband signed the paperwork. His poor hand was so tired, he refused to do anymore writing that day.
After the paperwork was all signed my husband, dad and I went out to eat to celebrate. After lunch we went back to our apartment to pick up our dog. We were so excited to show Jordan her new backyard.
As we were trying to figure out the locks to the house, my dog Jordan, decided she is going to claim the front yard by marking her territory. I won’t go into details. I guess she knew it was her house and wanted everyone to know it.
After getting inside we all look around, especially Jordan. There was lots of new smells. My husband and I made sure the fence around the entire yard was secure before letting her out into the new big backyard. Once Jordan got out into that yard, there was no getting her back into the house! She ran everywhere, sniffed everything, and even made friends with the dogs on the other side of the fence.
Then come Friday morning we started renovations. Nothing major, just some new paint on the walls and a little updating to the bathroom. Things to make the house ours.
Even though it was a major headache through this whole process, the end result is worth it. Once you’re able to say this house is my mine, it is such an amazing feeling.
